Sr. Engineering Technician


The Biz is looking for a Sr Engineering Technician 

The Mission: This role would be responsible for developing and executing test plans to qualify new product designs for commercial release.  You will collaborate and be an essential part of the cross-functional product development team.  In addition, you will work closely with the Quality department in support of ensuring production control plans are followed and monitor product performance on an ongoing basis. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Product Management. 


  • Ensure the safety, quality and reliability of our products throughout the product lifecycle
  • Conduct product evaluation tests
  • Generate detailed reports based off test and evaluation results
  • Develop and improve product test plans
  • Properly use, maintain and operate engineering lab equipment
  • Support product development in product certification efforts
  • Conduct competitive benchmark testing
  • Lead the development of DFMEAs for new products, develop and drive action plans to mitigate risks as identified
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose defective products for IQC, RMA and Product Development departments
  • Generate and follow QC inspection plans
  • Design, build and maintain test cables and fixtures as required
  • Inspect products to ensure compliance with specifications and test plans
  • Maintain and update task and document tracking systems


  • 5+ years’ experience working as an electronics engineering technician
  • 2 or 4-year degree in electronics engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years working in a Manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with – Thermocouples, current and volt meters, oscilloscope, AC and DC supplies, AC and DC loads, microscope, dataloggers
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Wiring and fabrication of testing fixtures
  • Knowledge of circuit board and electronic designs
  • Familiarity with SLA/AGM and Lithium batteries is a plus but not required
  • Good soldering skills (SMT & Thru hole devices), IPC certification is a plus
  • Ability to read and follow electronic and mechanical schematics
  • Know how to properly use mechanical inspection equipment (calipers, micrometer, pin gages etc)
  • Familiarity with - MS Excel and MS Outlook
  • Experience with SMPS power supply and inverter designs is a plus but not required
  • Basic knowledge of product safety and compliance standards
